My Monthly Favorites [October 2017]

Another month has gone by and the dreadful Nanowrimo is just around the corner. Am I ready? Well, kind of. But more about that later. This month has been fairly quiet in terms of… well.. Anything. October is usually the last freelance month when things get super busy, but I’ve made sure that I’ll won’t be bored for the rest of 2017. Enjoy this little read and don’t forget to let me know what you’ve enjoyed doing / reading / raving about in 2017?

Please note that ‘5 Things I’m Raving About’ and ‘Books I’ve Read’ do have an Amazon affiliate link, however, giving it a click would only support my blog. All opinions are my own (and I wouldn’t have it any other way). <3

5 Things I’m Raving About

  • http://mobilbahis365.co/tag/rivalo9-com/ Demi Lovato’s Simply Complicated documentary http://sheheet.com/category/الأب-متى-المسكين/ This is one of the rawest documentaries I’ve ever seen. I love the honesty, as well as the insight look into the PR version of Demi post-rehab.
  • go Dual Sided Gliding Discs Core Sliders by Iron Core Fitness – I got those just last week and they’re absolutely perfect. I’m making core exercises a priority over the weekend, but I also needed something more stimulating than just regular planks (I get super bored). The discs are pretty big, but I also use them when I practice my pirouettes – perf.
  • Essential Oil Diffuser – Er.ma.gherd. I live in a small place that gets easily stuffy, especially since my kitchen doesn’t have a window. I used this for the first time a few weeks ago and honestly, I could actually breathe better (this sounds like a commercial but I promise I’m not sponsored). Also gave me an excuse for going all out on purchasing some essential oils – totally worth it.
  • buy generic protonix Lush – I’m back working for Lush over Christmas to work on my communication skills (one thing I’m super worried I’ll miss out on as a freelancer). Letting my retail voice come through because that persona has her whole life put together (jealous).
  • Nanowrimo – Here it is again, the National Novel Writing Month. I participate every year, and every single year I get distracted. This year, I have a new strategy and a lot of hope considering my writing habit has advanced and I’m actually doing some form of writing every single day. I already changed my story twice and had my first breakdown, but hey, who hasn’t?

Books I’ve Read In October

I couldn’t believe when I read that this is actually a fictional book and the characters aren’t real – they might as well be. Maybe it’s the part it represented Croatia pretty well, or the fact it included some Balkan words you wouldn’t understand unless you spoke the language, but this has been one of my favorite boos I ever read. It’s detailed and even gives some insight into Croatian history, which was definitely real (and something they never taught us about in Slovenian schools).

I didn’t think much of this title at first, but I read this in one night (and kicked myself for not going to bed earlier). I skipped through some stuff, but this book had a really interesting plot, a couple of eye-rolling moments and scenes I had to reread to understand what was happening, but overall, a really good book!

Music I’ve Listened to in October

  • Ty Dolla Sign – Beach House 3 Album

I’ve been Ty’s fan ever since Saved first came on. This album is really solid and it annoys me how underappreciated he is. Ex is a bop, but I always enjoy the tracks that have zero features even more. This album is the most versatile album I have ever heard and he really showed off his musicality. Forever a Ty fan.

  • Pink – Beautiful Trauma Album

What About Us made me appreciate Pink again – along with the fact that her and Christina Aguilera made up after a 15-year feud. Beautiful Trauma is amazing when it comes to Pink’s vocal skills. Some of the songs, especially Barbies, fall a little flat for my taste, but I’m loving that she’s testing new sound – Whatever You Want, Better Life, What About Us, and Beautiful Trauma are my top 5.

My Monthly Favorites [August 2017]

My Monthly Favorites [August 2017]

I want to bring back more personality (*cough* and content) to this blog and I thought doing monthly favorites again would be the perfect way to do it. If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you know all of my content got erased last year and with it, all of my monthly faves went away as well. So let’s start this again – here are my monthly favorites for August 2017!

Please note that ‘5 Random Items I’m Raving About’ and ‘Beauty Products I love’ do have an Amazon affiliate link, however, giving it a click would only support the existence of my blog.

5 Random Items I’m Raving About

Coffee with nutrition, say what? As someone who has coffee running through her veins, I appreciate innovative ways people are trying to make coffee just a little big healthier. I knew it was meant to be when the owner of this company actually knows the people in my apartment building and has worked with my beloved Fresh Fitness Food. This coffee gets infused with multivitamins and it’s absolutely delicious – one pack lasts you for about 2 weeks!

Check out my complete review here!

I initially bought Skyroam as an Internet backup for my Santorini adventures and was very impressed with the result – I just used it again on my trip to Brussels (and when my apartment building’s wifi goes down) and I still love it! The internet is your typical 3G internet and it’s a bit flimsy at times, but it saved my life on multiple occassions. I’m not affiliated with this company at all, but they just came out with Skyroam Solis, which offers a 4G function along with a power bank and will be purchasing this for my freelance life (god knows coffee shop wifi and outlets suck).

I have a Lush secret to share but it’ll have to wait until next month. Here’s what you get for now – I finally purchased Lush’s bag for life this year and I’m totally in love with it. It’s actually so big it easily fits my larger-than-life laptop (because I still haven’t bought a Mac and carry this huge thing around me when I work from cafes) and this bag is saving my life.

I spend so much time behind my laptop people are worried about my drug problem (no, I don’t do drugs). This has been saving my life. You just freeze it for a couple of hours, put it on for 20 mins, and voila, your eyes will feel refreshed! I got into the habit of using this during my meditation and it’s wonderful.

I’m a huge Leah Remini fan, but wasn’t able to read this book until now. And when I have, I dived into the subject of scientology (no spellcheck, I won’t capitalize it) even more. This is one of those books you’ll read in one sitting and it’ll make your jaw drop. Props to anyone who was able to realize that a real church shouldn’t behave this way. I also recommend this long AF Joe Rogan podcast, but totally worth it.

Beauty Products I Love

I’m a sucker for anything lavender from Lush (in love with Twilight shower gel), so the Sleepy lotion is right up my street. It does actually help me sleep, makes my sheets smell fantastic AND it’s perfect for my eczema.

Saying that, this replaced my Sleepy Lotion obsession (sorry, bae </3). Affordable, smells amazing, and it’s incredibly hydrating for my terribly dry skin. In love.

While this product is originally meant for natural hair, I find it works perfect for my hair type too. My hair is fine, but it comes with uncontrollable curls that are very hard to be tamed. I use this after I put on my conditioner, and then again after I dry my hair – works wonders. A++ from me, thank you aunt Jackie <3

Blog Posts That Made Me Think

Obviously, as an advocate for you-don’t-need-a-SO-to-complete-you, this stood out to me. I wouldn’t necessarily go for ‘the happiest’ as the term, but it’s definitely important to be able to function in solitude and realize you are complete on your own.

Truth. That’s all I have to say.

Zen Habits is one of the very few email newsletters I actually open (sorry), but I will devour everything they write. There’s a lot of harsh thruths in this article that have made me think about how to tackle my own destructive behaviors.

What I’ve Listened to in August 2017

  • Fifth Harmony

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’m a huge Harmonizer. The new Fifth Harmony album took me back to the days of Danity Kane and Destiny’s child. Deliver, Lonely Night and Make You Mad exceeded my expectations and I’m totally in love with the new era. Danity Kane wishes.

  • Kesha

Kesha, you’re doing amazing, sweetie. I can’t even formulate a response to the emotions I felt when listening to Rainbow. Love, love, love.

  • Taylor Swift

Look What You Made Me Do is my chorus-hating guilty pleasure and I can’t shake it off (get it, get it??.. Okay,, I’ll stop). ….Ready For It is a complete marketing genius and I’m ready for TS6 to come slay my life away.

  • Julia Michaels

I’m completely obsessed with Julia Michaels’ sound. She’s different and lyrically, her songs are really speaking to me. Officially a stan.
